About Me:
I grew up right here in the Roanoke Valley. I am a graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. I took post-graduate classes through UVA Wise with a focus in Secondary Education. I became a Colonel in 2015. I love our Fleming community and couldn't imagine being anywhere else!
I am married and have two sons, ages 10 and 14. Our home can seem more like a zoo at times, with three dogs and two cats! My boys and I are sports enthusiasts, especially basketball and soccer. We enjoy escaping to the mountains when we have time, wading through the creek and basking in the beautiful scenery. I also enjoy reading and crafting in my spare time.
As for my teaching philosophy, I believe we learn math by doing math, and I do not expect students to get everything right the first time - it takes practice! Practice makes progress, which leads to success! I ask and expect students to try their best. As long as you try, I will do everything I can to help you succeed!
2022-2023 School Year Course Information:
Supplies needed: pencil, folder, school-issued laptop & charger. Please bring these to class every day!
Canvas: We will use Canvas to post notes and assignments. Canvas will be our "one-stop-shop" for copies of notes, make-up work, and study resources.
Tutoring: I offer after-school tutoring by appointment. If you can't stay after school but still need help, let me know! I can meet with you on Teams virtually, and I can provide you with notes, videos, and other resources as needed.
