Colonel Athletics Announcement for Week of January 4-8, 2021
Roanoke City Public Schools understands the value our students gain from participating in athletics. Unfortunately, ringing in the New Year does not bring an end to COVID-19. We must remain diligent so we can keep our students, staff, and community safe. Medical experts with the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts are concerned with recent outbreaks resulting from school and travel sports. With the current spike in COVID-19 cases in our area, Roanoke City Public Schools is canceling games and matches for the week of January 4th – 8th. As noted in our previous correspondence for returning to play, we will monitor our ability to resume games and activities on a weekly basis and will keep the public updated.

Principal's Welcome Letter
August 26, 2020
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students:
Greetings Colonels! It is my pleasure to welcome you to William Fleming High School for the 2020 - 2021 school year. I look forward to this school year and the opportunity to work with so many outstanding young people who will become part of the Colonel legacy of academic, athletic, and civic excellence.
On behalf of our faculty and staff, we hope you had a safe and enjoyable summer. Our faculty, staff, and administrators are eager to provide students an educational experience. Our theme “Colonels – Refocusing Our Commitment for Success” will help us strive and focus on what is in the best interest of students learning through our virtual platform. We still have much work to do and look forward to a year filled with student achievements through strong teaching and learning, strong communication, and strong relationships.
It is important for all students to be present daily on the computer to receive synchronous instruction. Laptops have been made available for all students if needed. Students are expected to be logged into every class daily and actively participating with the teacher. Monday and Wednesdays will be considered “A” days. Tuesday and Thursdays will be considered “B” days. The first schedule below gives you the outline for Monday through Thursday. Fridays will be a seven period hybrid day. Students will check into every class block listed on the second schedule below.
We will continue to update you through communication via robo-calls and updates to the William Fleming High School website. If you go to the WFHS home page and scroll to the middle of the picture, you will see a link that states “Colonel Cove: Information and Directions for Virtual Learning.”
The first day of school is Monday, August 31, 2020. Students must be prepared to be online promptly at 8:45am for their first class.
Colonel Pride!!
